Chennai is a water-starved city.
How nice it will be, whenever rain comes all the chennaiites come out in to the open
and take to the streets !
Rain does not and cannot cause Cold, cough, fever, asthma or pneumonia.
There is no scientific proof to it.
Children catch cold when they get drenched in the rain, simply, because their mothers hve told them that they will get cold when they get drenched in the rain.
And as children, we believed that to be true because she was our saviour. and our life depended on her. No matter what she said, we believed them to be true.
Why did she say that ? Because her mother told her that - over a period of centuries !
It is your belief system which is causing the cold and fever.
Next time, when the rain comes, ask your children to go out and play in the rain. And for the next 70 years they would not need Vicks or Amrutanjan.
When they come in after playing in the rains, dry them up with a turkey towel and give them something hot to drink.
They would look forward to rains eagerly. Good for them and good for India.
Do not complain about rains.
If you do that, please do not complain around May
that we don't have water in the well or the Corproation
does not provide me with enough water.
God is not intelligent enough to provide you with water everyday,
in to your overhead water-tank.
So, kindly bear with her. When God provides water,
she always pours it on to the streets, grounds
- wherever she could find an open space among these concrete jungles !
Of course, it is muddy, there will be slush, you will be put to hardship. But that is how it is, it was, it will ever be.
To my knowledge - and my knowledge is very limited - for the past 400 crores of years,
this was the way God was providing water to all living beings - forget human beings.
This is the way it is going to be for the next 400 crores years.
If you know any other better way/idea to suggest to God to provide you with water for all the 12 months, please tell her that the next time you go to temples begging for something in the name of prayers.
Trust me, she will appreciate your 'Infinite Wisdom' and act accordingly.
Don't blame the Govt and the Corporation of Chennai.
To my knowledge this was how they were functioning for the past 40 years - again limited knowledge !
If you have any evidence of any Govt having provided you with better water management, please let me know. I would love to see it.
Don't tell me the next Govt will set it right. They won't. This is reality.
Very likely, your children and grand children will see much worse !
Don't start quoting USA, because you and I are not born there.
We are born here and brought up here and living here and hav to continue living here.
When Katrina came to USA last year, the situation was much worse. The entire US was devastated. Don't forget that.
Be happy when the rain comes and celebrate.
Go out in to the open and dance.
Welcome rains !
Al those people who complain about rains, have no rights to complain about Hot summer.
If you have complaints about hot summer, then, don't complain about Rains.
But I find, invariably everyone is complaining about Rain as well as Shine. You don't have the right complain about both. Those who complain about one shall appreciate the other. Otherwise, there is something wrong with you.
Learn to accept and put up with 2 months of inconveniences caused by rains to live the next 10 months with more comforts.
Learn to appreciate Nature the way it comes.
